En tiempos donde la capacidad de contemplar se hace cada vez más ajena al hombre, donde la velocidad y el dinamismo de la vida cotidiana tienden a sellar las oportunidades de detenernos a disfrutar la belleza del entorno natural; se hace imprescindible encender luces que conduzcan al rescate de la facultad de sentirnos en armonía y en paz sin depender de nada, sólo del noble paisaje. Ese que siempre está disponible, al que solemos ignorar y que nunca nos defrauda.

Rodolfo Valdés nos revela humildemente esa potencialidad de la imagen natural, nos permite reflexionar sobre el acto defensivo de no perder el camino de regreso, sobre la posibilidad de conservar la pureza de lo espontáneo. Nos propone siempre un horizonte, nos invita a concentrarnos en la esencia de lo que somos, esencia que se esconde en estos tiempos, que se hace cada vez más frágil en la medida en que sentimos la necesidad de disfrazarla para protegerla de la hostilidad circundante del contexto urbano.

En sus revelaciones, la luz del sol, el mar y los ríos, son componentes protagónicos. Sol que nace en unos paisajes y que se esconde en otros, pero que no deja de estar, porque siempre sugiere la posibilidad de volver a empezar. En los paisajes del artista, la luz es optimista y esperanzadora, algunas veces las recrea desde lo onírico e irreal, al tiempo en que deposita su fe en el hombre y no niega las utopías.

El mar y los ríos establecen un recorrido, una continuidad, la posibilidad de cambiar y potenciar nuestro propio camino de regreso. El agua, gran comunicadora de todas las tierras, aparece en su obra para que nos sumerjamos en ella, nos seduce para que formemos parte del mismo paisaje. Un paisaje lleno de vida, profundamente humanista aunque no aparezca la figura humana; porque nos anuncia la distancia entre los hombres y lo puramente natúral, en la misma medida en que nos invita a conciliarnos con él.

En la naturaleza todo cambia constantemente, pero nunca se niega a sí misma. Como una amorosa madre, siempre nos brinda su protección, el refugio seguro y el viaje al origen de la vida. El creador nos ofrece una relación directa entre la vida humana y la vida en general; como un profeta. que aparece en tiempos donde no hay verdades seguras para decirnos que la verdad está ahí, en el principio de todas las cosas.

In times where the ability to contemplate is increasingly alien to man, where the speed and dynamism of everyday life tend to seal the opportunities to stop and enjoy the beauty of the natural environment; it is essential to turn on lights that lead to the rescue of the ability to feel in harmony and peace without depending on anything, only on the noble landscape. That which is always available, which we tend to ignore and which never lets us down.

Rodolfo Valdés humbly reveals to us that potentiality of the natural image, allows us to reflect on the defensive act of not losing the way back, on the possibility of preserving the purity of the spontaneous. She always proposes a horizon, she invites us to concentrate on the essence of what we are, an essence that is hidden in these times, that becomes more and more fragile as we feel the need to disguise it to protect it from the surrounding hostility of the urban context.

In his revelations, the sunlight, the sea and the rivers are the protagonist components. Sun that rises in some landscapes and hides in others, but never ceases to be, because it always suggests the possibility of starting again. In the artist’s landscapes, the light is optimistic and hopeful, sometimes recreating them from the dreamlike and unreal, while placing his faith in man and not denying utopias.

The sea and the rivers establish a path, a continuity, the possibility of changing and enhancing our own way back. Water, the great communicator of all lands, appears in his work so that we immerse ourselves in it, it seduces us so that we become part of the same landscape. A landscape full of life, profoundly humanistic although the human figure does not appear; because it announces the distance between men and the purely natural, to the same extent that it invites us to reconcile ourselves with it.

In nature everything is constantly changing, but it never denies itself. Like a loving mother, she always offers us her protection, the safe haven and the journey to the origin of life. The creator offers us a direct relationship between human life and life in general; like a prophet, he appears in times when there are no certain truths to tell us that the truth is there, at the beginning of all things.
